In June of 2023, the City of Giddings had to shut in one of four water wells that supplies water to its citizens. TCEQ granted an emergency replacement of that well since it produced a significant amount of the water supply. As of May 2024, the new well is fully operational and is currently pumping water at 1,000 gallons per minute, while it is capable of pumping 1,500 gallons per minute. This well is able to pump as much water as the other three wells combined and is a significant improvement to our water infrastructure.
