On April 1st, Accurate Meter & Supply began installing new equipment in water meter boxes on behalf of the City of Giddings. We can expect their presence city wide for at least 3-4 months. They began installing on the outermost meter routes, and will work their way towards middle of town. We apologize for any inconvienence and ensure there will be minimal interruptions to service.
The new equipment will be replacing older technology and will be able to provide more accurate, near real-time data on water usage city wide. Current meters have little to no battery life left. This upgrade will significantly improve operations by reducing the number of physical re-reads being performed monthly.
There is no cost to customers for this project. It is being funded solely by American Rescue Plan Act funding received. Our goal is to reduce water loss due to leaks, improve visibility of water usage trends, and accelerate reporting and handling of problems.
